PRODUCT OVERVIEW

This men's 7GG cotton knit zip jacket is developed for apparel brands and wholesale buyers seeking a more structured alternative to conventional cotton sweaters. With a garment weight of approximately 735g, the mid-gauge construction creates a substantial, dimensional appearance while maintaining the natural comfort and breathability associated with cotton knitwear. Made from 100% cotton yarn, the sweater provides a soft natural hand-feel and good moisture absorption, making it suitable for everyday transitional outerwear, casual menswear collections, corporate lifestyle programs, and relaxed outdoor-inspired lines. The 7GG gauge creates a visibly fuller knit structure than fine-gauge cotton cardigans, giving the garment a more substantial outer-layer appearance without relying on wool or synthetic fiber blends. The full-zip construction adds practical versatility to the traditional knitted sweater format. The front zipper allows the garment to be worn open as a lightweight outer layer or fully closed for additional coverage during cooler weather. Developed on computerized flat knitting machinery in Puyuan, Tongxiang—one of China's major knitwear manufacturing centers—the style can be adapted according to brand tech packs, including collar construction, zipper configuration, pocket details, fit proportions, and extended size grading. Our OEM/ODM service supports custom yarn selection, color development, hardware specifications, S–5XL pattern grading, and complete private label production for global menswear brands and wholesale programs.

MANUFACTURING CAPABILITY

  • Knitted Zipper Integration: A knitted garment and a conventional zipper respond differently to tension during sewing and wear. The front construction therefore requires careful coordination between knit density, placket width, zipper tape, and sewing tension to achieve a clean and stable zip front.
  • Mid-Gauge Cotton Structure Control: At 7GG, 100% cotton knitwear requires consistent loop formation to achieve a balanced combination of structure, softness, and dimensional stability. Knitting parameters are adjusted according to the selected yarn and target garment weight.
  • Cotton Dimensional Stability: Cotton knitwear may change in dimensions during washing if the yarn and garment are not properly stabilized. The finishing process is therefore developed around the specific cotton yarn and construction to help control the final garment measurements.
  • Extended-Size Proportion Development: S–5XL production requires more than simply enlarging the base pattern. Chest width, shoulder proportions, armhole depth, sleeve length, and garment length need to be graded together to maintain the intended fit across the complete size range.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is a 7GG 100% cotton knit jacket suitable for transitional weather? +
Yes. The 7GG mid-gauge construction gives the garment more body and coverage than a lightweight fine-gauge cotton sweater, while the natural breathability of cotton makes it suitable for spring, autumn, and mild-weather layering programs.
Can you manufacture a full-zip jacket entirely from knitted cotton? +
Yes. We can develop knitted jacket constructions with full-zip or half-zip front openings. The final zipper, placket, collar, and pocket construction can be adjusted according to the brand's tech pack and intended use.
How does this style differ from a traditional cotton cardigan? +
The full-zip front and more substantial 7GG knit structure give this style a more outerwear-oriented appearance. It can be positioned between a traditional cardigan and a lightweight casual jacket, making it suitable for lifestyle, casual, uniform, and transitional menswear collections.
Can the 735g garment weight be adjusted for different markets or price points? +
Yes. The final garment weight can be developed according to the selected yarn specification, gauge, stitch structure, size range, and target hand-feel. Buyers can provide a target weight or reference garment for development.
Can you develop this cotton knit jacket in S–5XL for Western menswear markets? +
Yes. We can develop extended size specifications from S through 5XL according to the buyer's own measurement chart. The grading can be adjusted across chest, shoulder, sleeve, armhole, and body length to maintain consistent proportions throughout the size range.
Can brands customize the zipper, collar, pockets, and private label details? +
Yes. OEM customization can cover the front closure, zipper specifications, collar design, pocket construction, yarn and color selection, size grading, woven labels, care labels, hangtags, and packaging according to the brand's requirements.
